Prevalence of smoking among physicians in Ecuador
Greetings! The last issue of the Revista Panamericana de Salud Publica has
an
article describing the attitudes and prevalence of smoking among physicians
in
Ecuador. According to their results, 32% of physicians surveyed are smokers
(higher prevalence among males). This is of particular concern given the
role
that physicians play in the tobacco wars. The prevalence is amongst the
highest
in Latin America (4% in USA, 18% in Guatemala, 22% in Mexico, and 16% in
Costa
Rica)
